A celebration of Champions
"Women Moving Forward and Reaching Back" is an event created by Malesa Plater, Executive Director of the Braylon Edwards Foundation, and mother of Cleveland Browns star wide receiver Braylon Edwards. The event is designed to encourage and empower woman from all backgrounds to reach their dreams and help others along the journey. The event also serves as a fund-raiser for organizations who champion women’s causes.
Lisa Nichols, co-author of Chicken Soup for the African American Soul and teacher of the world renowned "The Secret" will be the keynote speaker for the dinner. Nichols is also the founder and CEO of "Motivating the Teen Spirit" which is recognized by many as the most comprehensive empowerment skills program available for teen development.
The Braylon Edwards Foundation (BEF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing and meeting the needs of under-served youth in the areas of education, health and fitness. The foundation, established by NFL player and Detroit native, Braylon Edwards, provides youth with education scholarships and leadership workshops ranging from fitness to financial management.
Through BEF, Edwards has developed education and health/safety initiatives such as "Helmets for High Schools" where 400 new helmets where donated to Detroit Public Schools in an effort to protect players from head injuries. BEF strives to produces quality programs that will help impact and shape the lives of future leaders.
